In brief
A criminal case is often decided by what happens in the first few days: what is said to the police, whether bail is ready, and whether the complaint even discloses an offence. We defend individuals and companies in Kolkata from that first hour through trial, appeal, and petitions to quash.

Choose a question. The answer sets out the work we actually take in this practice, in plain language.

- Child abuse and the protection of minors
What criminal charges do you defend?

Do you handle white-collar and corporate crime?
Answer
Economic offences turn on documents, banking trails, and special statutes that sit on top of the penal law. We defend the people named, and the company when the company itself is in the frame.
- Corporate fraud, banking fraud, cheating, and corruption
- Money laundering under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002
- Matters under the Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors Act, 1999
- Defence of directors, executives, and corporate clients
- Internal investigations and crisis response
How do you prepare a case before judgment?
Answer
Trial work starts before the first witness is called. We test the prosecution story, assemble what the defence can actually prove, and use the pre-trial stage to narrow the charge where the law allows it.
- Legal research and evidence gathering
- Identifying and preparing witnesses
- Courtroom strategy for the trial itself
- Negotiations toward a plea alternative, a reduced charge, or dismissal
- Regulatory enforcement and the litigation around it
Can you move for bail, or for a money dispute that has turned criminal?
Answer
Applications for liberty are a core part of the practice. So are the criminal routes people use when money has been taken by fraud, rather than by an ordinary unpaid bill.
- Interim bail and anticipatory bail
- Cheque dishonour under the Negotiable Instruments Act
- Criminal proceedings for fraud, cheating, or criminal breach of trust
What if the case should not have been filed, or is already in appeal?
Answer
A complaint that does not disclose an offence can be challenged. Where the case has to be fought, we carry it through the appellate courts. Where the risk is still ahead, we advise before a complaint is lodged.
- Quashing of FIRs and chargesheets
- Criminal appeals and revisions
- Advice aimed at reducing criminal exposure before a case begins
- Specialised juvenile defence
The path
How a matter moves
01
The first account
We hear the facts, read whatever papers exist, and tell you the immediate risk, including arrest.
02
The urgent filing
If liberty is at stake, the bail application comes before a long opinion.
03
The record
Evidence, witnesses, and the prosecution case are mapped before the trial date.
04
Hearing and after
We argue the matter, then appeal, revise, or seek quashing if the order or the charge requires it.

Questions on this practice
How soon should I call if I expect a complaint?
As soon as you know a complaint is likely. Anticipatory bail, and the way you answer the police, are much harder to repair after an arrest.
Can a company instruct you, or only an individual?
Both. We defend promoters, executives, and the company itself, including when an internal investigation is running alongside a criminal case.
Do you take cheque-bounce matters?
Yes. Dishonour cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act are a regular part of this practice.
Can an FIR that is already registered still be challenged?
Yes. Where the complaint does not disclose an offence, or where continuing it would be an abuse of process, we prepare a petition to quash the FIR or the chargesheet.
Will the matter stay confidential?
Instructions, papers, and the advice we give are treated as confidential. What a court record makes public is a separate thing, and we will tell you which is which.
These answers describe the practice. They are not advice on the facts of your matter.
